What is
Platelet-Rich Plasma(PRP)?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is the part of your blood that is especially concentrated with platelets, and several growth factors which stimulate healing of bone and soft tissue.

Procedure:

Approximately 23 mLs of your blood will be collected from one of your veins. This blood will then be spun for 3 minutes in a centrifuge which separates the plasma from the red blood cells. The PRP portion (within your plasma) is then gently removed and used for treatment (e.g. in the tear troughs, Vampire Facial).

PRP causes a mild inflammation that triggers the healing cascade. As the platelets clot, they release a number of enzymes to promote healing and tissue responses, including attracting stem cells to repair the damaged area. Growth factors contained in PRP can have positive influences on chronological aging processes, causing stimulation of fibroblasts, increased production of collagen and endogenous hyaluronic acid.

PRP has been shown, in unscientific observations, to have overall rejuvenating effects on the scalp such as strengthening existing hair follicles and has also been shown to improve the volume, texture and tone of facial skin, decreasing the appearance of wrinkles. There is minimal recovery time and it is a safe treatment with low risk and natural results. Since PRP uses your own blood/tissue, the risk of an allergic reaction is virtually eliminated and no general anesthesia is needed.

After treatment, results are generally visible at 3 weeks and continue to improve gradually over the next 3-6 months. On average, 1-4 treatments are usually required, however individually care plans are developed based on each treatment's results.
